from Aaron Portzline of Puck-Rakers,
Along with Umberger's potential trade, Johansen's resigning could be the story of the summer for the Blue Jackets. He's an RFA, yes, but he's not going to sign his qualifying offer. Don't be silly. He's going to get paid, it's just a matter of time. And team. As of July 1, all 30 teams are free to negotiate with Johansen and his agent, Kurt Overhardt. Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen said he does not see July 1 as a deadline, and he doesn't view the potential of an offer sheet as a risk. "If he signs an offer sheet, he signs an offer sheet," Kekalainen said. "Our ownership is strong, and as I said before, we would match any offer he could possibly sign. If somebody wants to waste their time and effort on that, that's fine for them. We'd just match it and keep the player."
