Don Cherry On Brian Burke

from Sean Fitz-Gerald of the National Post,
Don Cherry was yelling at the television camera, as he always does. But during the first intermission of his first Saturday night back at Hockey Night in Canada, the bombastic commentator was also gloating over something that happened before the first puck was dropped — the firing of Brian Burke as general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs....
“Remember in Anaheim, he had all Canadian guys? He starts getting U.S. college guys, Finns and Swedes,” Cherry bellowed on Saturday night. “What is this? Truculent, pugnacious and stuff like that? You’re kidding.”
Toronto fired Burke on Jan. 9., replacing him with assistant Dave Nonis. Cherry went on what sounded like a loud victory lap during his Coach’s Corner segment, invoking everything from Burke’s long-time friendship with (fired) coach Ron Wilson to his decision last season to demote tough guy Colton Orr.
I will post a video of Coaches Corner when it becomes available.
