from the Tampa Bay Lightning,
The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed free agent center Dominic Moore to a two-year contract today, Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman announced.
“Dominic’s skating ability, strength on face-offs and versatility will be a great edition to our line up,” Yzerman said. “We’re pleased to welcome him to the organization.”

Penguins fans have been wondering why this guy (among others, but especially Moore) haven’t been offered contracts. The Penguins players don’t like Moore, and Moore doesn’t like them.
He played with them for half a season in ‘06-‘07, and anytime he’s played against them since, he’s been a complete ass on the ice (according to me). There’s an obvious mutual dislike between them, he goes extremely hard against them, hits them at every chance from any direction, slashes, cross-checks, starts something behind the play on every shift (I know this sounds like probably what he should be doing all the time, but there’s hate in there). It’s beyond the “I’m going to show up my former team for trading me” attitude.
I think there are ‘character’ issues with this guy, I say as I sit at a computer 5000 km away from him.

Tons of praise for Yzerman for his “savvy moves” including trades, signings and draft selections. I still don’t see how he’s addressed his defence or goalie situation. How is signing Brett Clark and moving Matt Walker a win? No question that up front they are extremely talented. But is Stevie Y trying to lose games 12-15 to the Caps? While entertaining for the south Florida (un)faithful, I don’t get it.

In Walker’s case, it’s because the return for Walker was superior, end of story.
