Does It Bother You If A Goalie Doesn’t Talk On Game Day?

IMO, I have no issue with it.

Only conclusion is that he’s more fragile in his preparation, or he’s ducking responsibility with this silly loophole. Neither are great qualities for a goalie.
If you didn’t know already, I guess Ryan Rishaug is apparently something you might find leftover in your boxer briefs.
There’s nothing wrong with Rishaug noting Montoya doesn’t talk. There is no call at all for the rest of his take, save that Rishaug is a self-important ass.
Thankfully if you check in the replies, RIshaug is pretty much shredded to bits by everyone for it. Also kudos to the guy that points out Carey Price hasn’t spoken to the media on gameday in nine years.

Dude is looking for something to be outraged about. Everyone is different. If the player needs to focus that day to perform at his best it should be respected. It doesn’t mean he’s ‘fragile’, or ducking out. It just means he’s about as crazy as most goalies

It’s really great to see a TSN (read: owned by Bell) employee mocking the mental health of an NHL player mere hours after the end of Bell Let’s Talk day, which is all about the stigma of mental health issues.
Congratulations Ryan Rishaug. You are a true piece of shit.

Yep, those are the only conclusions. There are no other possible conclusions, nor are there any other ways of understanding this situation. Case closed, and give this guy whatever award for investigative journalism that sports writers dream about as little kids and work passionately to achieve, looking for any advantage they can that will help them focus one small bit more than the thousands of other people that covet that dream job that he holds and so easily can lose.

Oh oh , don’t let the idiot HSJ see this, Mouth of Babble
No Talking by a Goalie, OK by me
Goalies do have some stranger superstitions, habits, etc on game day

A lot of chatter on Twitter regarding this topic.
Ray Ferarro...
Not my fight but you would suggest Tv people do what for the days’ biggest story? Put a graph on Tv? Ask someone else to comment on how another guy feels? It’s a cop out by the player for the 5 minutes it takes. Any player, all players
#FakeOutrage - Kiprusoff never spoke once on game day, not once did anyone question his preparation

I always kind of liked the lore around eccentric goalie habits and the general acceptance that many goalies
are a bit different.
Their job is quite a bit different!
Full 60 min focus on a constantly moving puck.
Last line of defense. Your mistakes go right on the scoreboard.
To each his own. If a goalie wants to talk on game day, fine.
To try and suggest a goalie is fragile for not doing so is beyond lame
- it really does border on classless. There are many examples of well-regarded
goalies who don’t like to do this. To me, if anything, that’s part of the aura of the
position and its unique demands.
