from the Arizona Republic,
The Coyotes and the agent for captain Shane Doan made “significant” progress in contract-extension negotiations on Tuesday and, according to an NHL source, a new multiyear deal for Doan could be completed today.
Doan’s agent, J.P. Barry, accompanied the team back to Phoenix after Tuesday’s game.
Negotiations intensified Monday after the Coyotes traded left wing Ladislav Nagy to the Dallas Stars. Like Doan, Nagy is in the final year of his contract and likely would have commanded a similar annual salary in the $4 million to $5 million range.
