I guess they’re talking about this because
Terry injury around his eye gives the league ma figurative
black eye? Because talking heads are obsessed with one rookie
who - good for him, I guess - continually uses a trick shot to score goals
(is it showboating? What do 10-14 year old proto-fans think?)

Again where is the consistency?
I don’t like Beagle not letting up either.
I don’t like the result to Terry.
But how many hundreds of times have we seen
versions of this: a guy is digging at a puck in the crease and
stick work and a scrum quickly becomes a fight.
Very often these types of fights are mismatches.
Because the defending team feels entitled to take out anyone
poking their goalie and guys rush in a grab whoever is there.

So is there now a problem with “excessive fighting”?
Punishing guys who take advantage of a mismatched opponent
and won’t let up when it’s one-sided and a guy is defenseless?
Great, then can we ban fat-faced sandbox bully Nick Ritchie from the game already?
Can we ban Tom Wilson for whom every hit is an attempt to injure and every fight or attack is meant to hurt a non-fighter or mismatched fringe fighter?

They’re only talking about this because these people are obsessed with Trevor Zegras and the idea that he’s going to be Gretzky for TikTok tweens.
Will we even ever hear another word about this problem and topic - at least until something else indirectly involving Trevor Zegras happens? I doubt it.

I would not be outraged if the league did do something about this.

Terry never dropped his gloves, its one thing for a guy to get 1-2 swings in, and land one, but dude landed a dozen blows in a round and round dance, all while Terry with gloves on, was just trying to cover his head, that ain’t right.

This is no longer the 80’s, in today’s game getting into a fight isn’t a routine play that might happen anytime you take your shift, the game has moved away from that.  But I’m also fine if the league does nothing but…

If they do not, and the Ducks don’t have a fighter on their roster, than they absolutely must call up the nastiest knuckle dragger in their system whether that be in A or heck down to the ECHL and let that guy earn a YouTube clip, with the roster passing the hat around to cover any and all league disciplinary fines.
