Did Drew Doughty Deserve An Extra 2 Minutes

Would you have assessed 2 for unsportsmanlike conduct to Drew Doughty?  The call was 2 for interference and don’t forget it was in OT.

I think they missed a bunch of calls on both sides.Might have been a completely different game if they called those.

They’d call that in any other sport, or in the regular season NHL games. It’s one reason why the NHL is such a joke. They call penalties far more situationally than any other sport.

And then a few minutes later he threw another huge tantrum on an offsides call (to his defense, it was a bad call, he did keep the puck).  He did an angry pirouette that rivaled any brian boitano move.

Your team wasn’t on the verge of being eliminated so stfu.

Oh wait, did I just imply conspiracy? smile

Argue for sure, but don’t go pull a Doan.

Some of the unsportsmanlike may be from the words coming out of his mouth as well as the hissy fit he was throwing on the ice.

There should have been 2 penalties on his interference call, one to him and one for the stick hold.  I don’t think he was upset at the call, more upset at the non-call.  Same with the offsides, no excuse for that to be missed at this stage of the playoffs.

Prob should have gotten 2 more, but there were so many missed calls in that game as someone said above…  if was fitting.  Lets hope the crew is not in the finals.

This was not the first game of the playoffs where the refs were so terrible that I felt bad for both teams.

Sprinkle in Dive-gate and you’ve got refs that simply don’t know what to call anymore.

I’d have given him 2 extra if he were wrong, but he wasn’t, so why compound a mistake?

This is the crap you are going to post?? you could have picked out a handful of other phantom or non-calls, but you go with this? I will stick with Puck Daddy from here on out.

No Sweat Paul.

I think that this point in the game represents quite well how frustrated both fans and players were with the officiating, or lack thereof.

It still didn’t call for a temper tantrum from Doughty. Have some decorum.

LOL.  Spoken like a true PD commenter.  Please do return to PD.  I am sure you will be much happier hanging out with all of the other mental midgets that comment over there.

Doughty should have gotten at least two and a misconduct for his antics.  Of course with Brad Watson as one of the referees, getting any call right would be a miracle.  The NHL went out of its way to get the worst of the worst working the important games.

At this point the hideous officiating has achieved half of the Evil Garden Gnome’s goal of a LA- New York Rangers final.  I will not be watching.

WOW, he should’ve gotten a misconduct for complaining about a BS call?

Hands down the right call in not adding extra for the tantrum.  This wasn’t the third game of the season against an Eastern Conference team, it was OT in an elimination game in the Conference Finals and the Wizard was clearly holding his stick.

Considering the refs missed the call against the Kings when they shot it over the glass in their own zone in OT, I think we can all agree that the officiating has generally been a joke in this year’s playoffs (don’t forget the Clowe incident or the Hossa hit, neither of which was caught on the ice).  When you have your career aspirations and millions of dollars on the line and a ref is making terrible calls against you, these things happen.  That said Doughty needs to be way smarter in this situation instead of risking extra time in the box.

Jeff Skinner is not at all amused that he was left out of the figure skating discussion.  The MSG broadcast crew would have never made such faux pas.  Right, Sam Rosen?

I think the call was crap.  plenty of missed calls prior.  So I can see being upset.  The Ref didn’t seem to have thin skin or rabbit ears when it came to the language or the questioning of the call.  The jumping around and banging his stick on the ice multiple times, after hitting his stick off the boards was a bit excessive.

He could have gotten a 2 and a 10min.  but be it as it may.

The refs need work on thier calls.

The interference call was awful.  The linesman blew a call not long after.  A bogus call off of an icing caused a non call for shooting puck over glass.  Doan was incensed at end of game as well.  refs were awful. Period.  Poorly officiated game.

Technically he deserved 2 or 10 and in the regular season he would have gotten one. At that point of the game and the fact he was going for 2, it wasn’t relevant to call for more. Too much whining about the refs and missing the fact it was a great game to watch.
