Devils in the Details will be a daily round-up of links to all things Devils-related throughout the season.
• Ilya Kovalchuk, who arrived in New Jersey last night for the start of training camp, met with the media. Interesting point: Kovalchuk never considered signing with another NHL team after initial contract was rejected by the League. Though the KHL was definitely an option had the same happened to the second deal.
• More training camp notes from Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record: Adam Mair is in New Jersey for a tryout, while Zach Parise’s brother Jordan is trying out across the river with the New York Rangers. Zach is pulling for his brother if for nothing else than the opportunity to score on his older brother.
• Mark Everson of the New York Post chimes in once again on the Devils’ options for finding salary cup relief before the end of camp. His main focus seems to be Travis Zajac, but we would be willing to bet quite a bit on the Devils moving just about anyone else.
• According to Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger, Anssi Salmela will have his knee evaluated on Sept. 28 to determine when he can begin skating. Odds are that he’s several months away from a return to the line-up.
