Derek Dorsett Out With Fractured Clavicle

03/08/2013 at 8:24am EST

from Aaron Portzline of Puck-Rakers,

An otherwise joyous night for the Blue Jackets was tempered by a serious injury to one of the club's most inspiring player.

Right winger Derek Dorsett suffered a fractured clavicle at 1:36 of the first period, when he was driven into the net by Vancouver's Andrew Alberts. The club announced after the game that he's likely to miss the rest of the season.

It's a big blow for the Blue Jackets. Dorsett has three goals, six assists and 53 penalty minutes in 24 games. Last season, he had 12 goals, 20 points and 235 penalty minutes -- all career highs.

a bit more and if you watch the video below (game highlights, injury is at the start), I think Dorsett suffered the injury from the hit by Alberts. Going into the net did not seem that bad but you can decide.
