Debating Visors

Al MacInnis sees the light now. Of course, just the fact he can see at all is a blessing. The hard-shooting defenseman had injuries to each eye late in his career -- both requiring surgical procedures to repair partially detached retinas and to correct blurry vision. MacInnis retired after 23 seasons and still works for the St. Louis Blues. The issue of whether visors should be required for all players arose again last week when Toronto's Mats Sundin had a close call. "I wish I had one on a few years ago," admitted MacInnis, the third high-scoring defenseman in league history. "I don't know why anyone would take one off."
