As I said before, KH can’t believe that he has the best guy possible behind the bench. The only possible reason JB is here in the fall is a reluctance to eat the cost.

He’ll go to rebuild or contender. Sounds picky to me.

Haha! Darrylspeak was quite the paradox here in SoCal, where it’s typically more about appearance and delivery than substance, but the guy is not about ego and I can certainly see him going into a rebuild situation if he was comfortable with the GM.

If Sutter came to Detroit, the press conferences definitely wouldn’t sound like they were with a Babcock clone. I don’t know about his coaching abilities, but I do love listening to him.

realistically, how much longer will he b behind a bench? cause if its ‘more than 5 yrs.’ then sure. otherwise .. meh ...

The Wings are in a tough spot unless Chris Ilitch proves his mettle quickly. Why would any proven front office exec or coach want to come here when, at best, Chris Ilitch is an unknown, and at worst, there’s fire behind the smoke in the Bradley story from a couple weeks ago?
That said, a lot of mettle could be proven just in an interview process. But it’s clear that they are staying the course for at least a half season. And if it comes to pushing one or both of Holland and Blash out, how Ilitch handles it will say a lot to guys like Sutter.

Not to worry, Blashill isn’t going anywhere and when Ken Holland decides he’s done they’ll just promote from within, ensuring that the current “Red Wing Way” of resounding mediocrity will continue.

How about Detroit Mr. Sutter? You can be assistant coach until thanksgiving. Then after the break you can be head coach. Will that work for ya?
