from Darren Dreger of TSN,
Never one to back down, Darcy Tucker has decided its time to face life’s next challenge and in doing so, he’s announcing through TSN, his decision to retire from the National Hockey League.
“After spending the whole summer anticipating I would play, it got to a point where I knew it was time.”
“I just knew, during workouts I didn’t have that same feeling,” Tucker told TSN, “and I needed to be fair with my family.”

i love it when washed up old players like tucker or mathieu dandenault announce they’re retiring after it’s already been made apparent no one wants them, but then, like tucker, they go on to rationalise it, like it was his decision. sorry, bud, you’re washed up.

Well, the Red Wings can’t fit every washed up old guy on their roster.

I can’t say that I will miss him. I would summarize his career as an over hyped Toronto “hero”, who made a living by cheap shotting opponents.
