Dallas Undecided On Being Buyer Or Seller At Trade Deadline

from Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News,

Here’s owner Tom Gaglardi on how he sees the future:

``I definitely understand what the fans are going through. I do the same thing myself in watching all of the trades and seeing who might be out there,’’ Gaglardi said. ``But at the same time, we’ve all talked, and we’re all on the same page as an organization, that we want to do this the right way. We want to be good for years to come.’‘

And here is GM Joe Nieuwendyk’s take on how Gaglardi’s purchase of the Stars from a group of lenders in November has affected his ability to run the team:

``What I’m finding now is I can get in on more conversations and at least test the waters more, and we’re doing that,’’ Nieuwendyk said. ``We’re asking and we’re listening, and we’re trying to make sure of every opportunity that’s out there. Then, it’s up to us to make smart decisions.’‘

Quite honestly, the players and coaches have 15 games to convince the front office that they should add to this roster. If they play lights out and have pushed into the top eight by the NHL’s Feb. 27 trade deadline, who knows what could happen. If they don’t and they fall out of the pack, I definitely think Nieuwendyk will very seriously consider moving a few parts to get prospects or simply get younger.

Yup.  Glen Gulutzan will finally be able to ice a team in his way with a new crop of players from the AHL and draft picks.
