Czech Coach Calls For Changes

from the Czech Business Weekly,
Following a disastrous showing in the second tournament of the Euro Hockey Tour, Czech national hockey team head coach Alois Hadamczik has called for a change to the limits on how many players in the top-flight Czech Extraliga can play for the national team. The reigning World Champion Czechs finished last in the annual Karjala Cup tournament in Helsinki, Finland, Nov.13. The Czechs lost to Sweden and Russia, and managed only one win against Finland. Currently the Czechs rank last, behind Sweden, Russia and Finland. At the root of the problem is the restriction, Hadamczik lamented. “All the top Extraliga players should be available for the national team, but an agreement among [Extraliga] clubs doesn’t let me take more than only three players from each club.”
