Crumbling To The Ground

from the Winnipeg Sun,
At 7:15 a.m. tomorrow, one of Winnipeg's most historically significant buildings will be gone for good. The Winnipeg Arena, which brought this city some 50 years of excitement and cherished memories, will be imploded with 200 kg of explosives. The building was more than just a hockey arena for Winnipeg. It was a place where Winnipeggers gathered to celebrate their city and their country. They came to cheer the many Winnipeg hockey clubs that entertained us over the years, which included three Avco Cups for the former Winnipeg Jets when they played in the WHA.
