Craig Conroy’s Career Could Come To An End

Craig Conroy’s distinguished 1,009-game NHL career almost certainly came to an end Wednesday morning when the Calgary Flames’ centre cleared waivers and was given a choice between two comparatively unappetizing options: Either report to the team’s AHL affiliate in Abbotsford to work with the organization’s young players for the duration of his one-year, $500,000 contract; or retire. The team gave Conroy the all-star break to ponder his options and expects an answer early next week.

Conroy is one of the best “dressing room guy"s around, really sad to see him go like this. Glad nobody picked him up so he can retire a Flame. I almost feel like D.Sutter kept him int he line-up just to get to game 1,000 out of respect for all he has done for Calgary. Hope he stays with the organaztion in some capacity, he will be an awesome asset if he does.
