GLENDALE, ARIZONA—- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have signed goaltender Jason LaBarbera to a two-year contract. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“We are very pleased to sign Jason to a new contract,” said Maloney. “Jason is a quality NHL goaltender who has played well for us and been an extremely reliable player. We look forward to having him back next season.”
Last season, the 6-foot-3, 230 pound LaBarbera played in 17 games with the Coyotes, posting a 7-6-3 record with a 3.26 goals against average (GAA), a .909 save percentage and two shutouts. LaBarbera and Ilya Bryzgalov combined for nine shutouts in 2010-11, tying the franchise record for a season. LaBarbera also recorded a team season high 46 saves on March 18 in a 3-1 victory versus the Vancouver Canucks.
