With the Ducks on the verge of winning their first-ever Stanley Cup, Giguere isfor again a contender the Conn Smythe Trophy, but there’s a difference now. The last time around, there were no other viable contenders on the Anaheim team.
This year, any of Giguere, Sami Pahlsson, the Niedermayer brothers or Ryan Getzlaf could get votes. Chris Pronger’s candidacy might be compromised by his two playoff suspensions and while Teemu Selanne and Andy McDonald have both contributed scoring at different intervals, they have been part of their success, no more and no less.
