Not surprised.  Hopefully he can play well in Grand Rapids and find a team next year.

MacDonald certainly has earned his spot.

JoeMac definitely answered the bell and he’s confident as ever.  Sorry Conks, on the plus side you’ll be able to clean those kids out playing hold’em.

Any idea if Conklin will get claimed? After watching Johnson stink it up yesterday vs. the Sabres, I’m a little nostalgic for the good ol’ Conklin days in Pittsburgh. How’s he looked lately?

Never like to see a guy get waived, but he just wasn’t getting the job done.  Babcock had no faith in him this year and, as a result, up until the injury Howard was playing nearly every game.  If anything, this broken finger could turn out to be a blessing in disguise.  It solidified the #2 goalie spot and his given Howard some much needed rest.

J-Mac has earned the back-up position. Conk conked out early in the season. He lacked Conk-fidence from the get.

Good luck Conk, wherever you land.

Lets Go Red Wings!!!!!

Agreed, and even in the few games Joey played last year, he didn’t play poorly the guys just hung him out to dry a lot.

As far as I can tell, this means the Wings consider Joey Mac the number two.

Great to see the kid earn the backup spot. I don’t feel quite as nervous now when Jimmy has a day off.

Pretty much.  They’ve decided they’d rather have Joey around and risk losing Conklin for nothing.  That says a lot about how they feel on the subject of their backup goalie.

This had to happen.

Thanks, Conks.  Really pulled for you when you got the starts.  Not even Bert’s full confidence in you could save your job.

Wishing you the best.

There’s a reason the Wings put him on waivers.

Joey put in the work, and his play has earned him the #2 role; good on him.

Good luck to Conklin, hopefully he will regain his form in GR.

looking upon this whole mess, its a good thing it happened when it did, and not right at seasons end/playoffs starting up. Jimmy gets a great rest(unfortunately not the way you want one) and we get a solid performer in JMac. Im feeling very VERY good about our tandem heading down the stretch.

MacDonald earned the back-up spot.  He flat out beat Conklin.  Unfortunately, Conks could never regain his form after his first tour with the Wings ended.  Good luck to him

I can’t see Conklin getting claimed due to his poor performance this year, but if he does… the Griffins are f’d.

As opposed to him not getting claimed in which the Griffins get a goalie with seemingly no confidence who washed out of the NHL?
