Conference Rankings

The Hockey News Coferene Rankings are compete.

Why: Critics take note: the Pens finished one point out of first overall…and Sidney Crosby played all of 22 games. Yes, we know Jordan Staal is gone, but Brandon Sutter slots in beautifully on the third line....

Why: Meet the Western Conference’s new juggernaut. The St. Louis Blues came within two points of first in the West last season, largely because they were the NHL’s top defensive team, riding amazing efforts by goaltenders Brian Elliott and Jaroslav Halak....

more on each team plus you can see the complete rankings too...

LOL @ “St. Louis Blues” and “juggernaut” being in the same paragraph.

They can’t just make a pick?  They have to christen the Blues as juggernauts?  Hey, why not?  They’ve been dominant, what with missing the playoffs in five of seven years since the lockout, winning one series and a total of four playoff games.

That’s definitely a juggernaut, right?

“...riding amazing efforts by goaltenders Brian Elliott and Jaroslav Halak….” Uh, did they not watch the 2012 playoffs when the Blues were SWEPT in the second round? In-part because of their goaltending collapse?!?!

Red wings #7? geez, as a hard core flyers fan it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that red wings are a top 5 team in west.

The Red Wings off-season acquisitions certainly won’t help their “power rankings.” I’m just glad that these are as meaningless and masturbatory as they are, because ultimately none of it matters once the puck drops.
