The players point out in their claim that the NHL has refused to ban fighting while team rosters often include "enforcers" whose main function is to fight.

It’s disappointing that players like Paul kariya, Marc savard, and Andy McDonald didn’t join suit. These are very recent players who all retired early due to concussions. Concussions due to cheap shots which is a huge problem. Not that many players fight, but any player can fall victim to a predator style hit targeting the head.
