from Mike Chambers of the Denver Post,
What was a 2-1 game late in the second period quickly turned into a fight-marred third period between the Central Division rivals who will meet again Thursday night in Denver. The Jets scored late in the second period and twice early in the third period to chase Avs goalie Semyon Varlamov, who allowed five goals on 30 shots.
"We just got outplayed from puck drop to final buzzer tonight by a team that's ahead of us. They just wanted it more than us, I guess. I don't know why," said Avalanche center Matt Duchene. "At some point we have to be men about this and realize it's not like baseball, where there is 162 games. We're almost at 30 now, halfway through, and we have to figure it out fast."...
"We go into the third and we're still feeling good and our line, we have an (awful) first shift and they score two on us right away and all of a sudden it's 5-1. It's unacceptable," said Avs captain Gabe Landeskog. "We're all going to need to dig a heck of a lot deeper than this because this is not good enough, what's happening now. We all want this so bad, and we're all working, but we're all in different directions right now. We're not working together."
