Coaches have their own language.... The following are some of the more popular turns-of-phrase used by hockey coaches once the notebook is displayed or the video camera is switched on. Like I said, keep it handy and you’ll be sure not to miss a thing this hockey season. • He gives 110 per cent: A reference to a player giving 10 per cent more than 100 per cent. That’s a lot. We can safely assume if a player gave 100 per cent, he really only gave 90 per cent with 10 per cent added on for some reason. • He’s good without the puck: Where? At home? On the street? A reference to a player’s ability to have an impact when not handling the puck. Being good with the puck is preferable for all involved.more
