The Devils placed left wing Ryane Clowe on injured reserve today after he took an elbow to the head from Winnipeg’s Jacob Trouba Sunday and was bothered by a headache afterward.///
“He got hit with a pretty good elbow in the third period and continued to play,” Lamoriello said. “Because of his past history, we felt for safety precaution that with the IR retroactive it would just be two games, hopefully. Certainly we had him see a physician, but it was just a precaution.”
When I asked Lamoriello if Clowe had any symptoms, he replied, “He got hit, so he had a headache. So, we just maybe overreacted to it but when you have somebody who’s had a history, you don’t want to take any chances. He wants to play right now, but we’re not going to allow him too.”
Lamoriello said Clowe has not skated since Sunday. “Not for a couple of days,” he said.
“The reason why is we just want to be totally covered,” Lamoriello said.
