City Of Vancouver Reviewing 2012 Playoff Party Plans

from Ian Austin of the Vancouver Province,

With the Vancouver Canucks’ next playoff run close on the horizon, the riot-ravaged city of Vancouver is planning a scaled-back celebration for 2012.

Perhaps the most-studied evening in Vancouver history, the June 15, 2011, Stanley Cup Riot has been subjected to four reviews, and city staff are wading through 129 recommendatons as they plan ahead.

“We all want to ensure a fun atmosphere during the playoffs, but obviously it’s not going to be the same as last year,” said Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson.

Already planning…again?

Yeah, how’d that work out last year?

seeing that they are planning a party not a Stanley cup party I don’t see a problem Red Winger.  You guys and your concept of time is unbelievable.  Jimmah has as many cups rings as Luongo.  The freebie detroit gave him shouldn’t count.

A street party for 150,000 people is not something that many cities would entertain.  Boston imposed a curfew and a ban on Canucks jerseys instead.  Even with the riot, I expect this city to do something awesome.
(Hopefully the victory parade is not planned early this time though)

Why on earth they would plan public parties shows that they just don’t get it. They so desperately want to be right that they insist on making it happen. This is all about telling the world I told you so, see Vancouver isn’t a riot town. One problem, the anarchists and rioters will be just as motivated.

Maybe a few smashed windows and cop cars is fair price to pay for an awesome three week street party.

They don’t get how awesome curfews are?  Or how precious windows are?

The place is such a bastion of left wing PC nonsense, the Police aren’t allowed to Police.  Just tell the shopkeepers to board up their windows this time.  Place is a free for all.

That’s a quaint anachronism.
