Neil hit Alex Ovechkin in the corner, Oveckin came back with a stick blade to the midsection of Neil.
No penalty for Ovechkin.

Neil on Ovechkin: “It was almost like a pitchfork right in the gut…we make mistakes out there and so do the refs.”
Ovechkin on Neil incident: “I’m not that kind of player…who would spear someone.”

I’ve got a real problem with players taking offense to being hit CLEAN and LEGALLY.

After where it looks like Neil got hit, he may have needed to hump a little ice.
Pretty cheap move, there, by Ovechkin. He knew what he was doing.

Gutless Turd OV!! Runs players on EVERY shift & he gets hit good & clean & he spears the guy who did it

Cheap move by Ovi, but Neil should win an Academy Award. Both should have been called for Unsportsmanlike.

Yeah, that was some spectacular acting by dirtbag Neil but at the same time, the hit was clean and Ovi didn’t need to jab Neil like that.

If you want to call that a spear then fine, but to me it looks like Ovechkin barely tapped him. I’ve had worse situations playing road hockey where your stick gets caught in a rut/crack and you end up jabbing yourself in the gut with it. Still a dirty play, and I mean come on Ovi, if you’re gonna spear someone, at least make it count. Spectacular sell job by Neil though.
