Crashing The Goalie Continues

from the Ottawa Citizen via the StarPhoenix,

The NHL appears to have a major problem on its hands. While Emery has acknowledged he went too far in smacking Lapierre - the incident came after several run-ins with Canadiens players earlier in that game - it was thought the episode might have inadvertently served to help protect goaltenders around the league by drawing attention to crease-crashing.

Last Saturday, Jim Slater of the Atlanta Thrashers responded to a mild hook from Senators defenceman Wade Redden by cross-checking Senators goaltender Martin Gerber in the face, knocking him to the ice inside the net. It was the third consecutive game in which a Thrashers skater had knocked down a goaltender.
