from the Chicago Sun-Times:
General manager Dale Tallon appreciates the Blackhawks’ recent good play and can understand coach Denis Savard’s declaration of support for his players, none of whom Savard wants to see traded before the Feb. 27 deadline.
Their strong showing on the seasonlong seven-game stretch of road games, which concludes tonight at Pittsburgh, hasn’t changed Tallon’s desire to do some dealing in the next two weeks, however.
‘‘We’re looking to get better, so nothing’s changed,’’ Tallon said Tuesday upon his return from a weeklong scouting mission in Europe. ‘‘Things are starting to heat up as far as phone calls go. Things are starting to crack. There are buyers and sellers now.’‘
