Chicago Blackhawks Travel To Detroit For Most Expensive Secondary Market Tickets For 2015-16

By Joe Sudberg,

As is the case every season, there will be one team vying for back-to-back championships, and after winning Lord Stanley’s Cup a year ago, that team in the 2015-16 NHL season will be the Chicago Blackhawks. After defeating the Tampa Bay Lightning in six games in last season’s Stanley Cup Finals, the Blackhawks are going for the rare feat of a repeat.

The dynamics are certainly different, however, as winning three Stanley Cups in the past five season comes at a price. Unable to keep some star players in Blackhawks uniforms, the production will have to come from different places this season in comparison to the past. Specifically, Brandon Saad and Patrick Sharp, two cornerstones of their recent championship success, are now no longer with the organization.

No matter the roster, the support for the Blackhawks from the city of Chicago will once again be near the top of the league. Still with premier talent, Chicago has a realistic chance of securing back-to-back titles, but of course, will be tested mightily along the way. With the schedule out for next season, below is a look into some key games and their ticket prices on the secondary market, according to TiqIQ.com.

3/2/2016 | Detroit Red Wings vs. Chicago Blackhawks | Joe Louis Arena | Average Price: $866.36 | Get-in Price: $57

4/1/2016 | Winnipeg Jets vs. Chicago Blackhawks | MTS Centre | Average Price: $713.11 | Get-in Price: $432.34

12/27/2015 | Chicago Blackhawks vs. Carolina Hurricanes | United Center | Average Price: $641.72 | Get-in Price: $125

The most expensive Chicago Blackhawks tickets on the secondary market are against an Eastern Conference playoff team from last season, the Detroit Red Wings. Joe Louis Arena always commands high ticket prices on the secondary market, no matter the opponent, and with these two teams meeting, their matchup being the most expensive should come as no surprise, being two of the most storied franchises in all of hockey. Fans looking to take in a Blackhawks road game in one of the top arenas in the sport can use Hipmunk.com for Detroit flights to create a desirable hockey getaway.

Another road game comes in second, with the Blackhawks facing the Winnipeg Jets in April of next year. The average ticket price of $713.11 is undoubtedly high, but will come down closer to the get-in price of $432.34 as game day approaches. The Jets have compiled a very dedicated fanbase since moving back to Winnipeg a few years ago.

The Chicago Blackhawks finally see a home game on the board, as they host the Carolina Hurricanes for their most expensive home game at this point in time. Hipmunk has cheap hotels in downtown Chicago for any fan planning on taking a trip to the United Center this season. Conversely, the Blackhawks’ least expensive game is against the Hurricanes on January 26, that being on their home ice. The average ticket price at PNC Arena is $98.13, with a get-in price of $34, as fans may be better off traveling to Carolina for the matchup between these two clubs. It also serves as a very winnable matchup for the defending champions.
