The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have recalled forward Jeremy Morin from the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League and forward Teuvo Teravainen (TAY-voh tair-uh-VIGH-nehn) from Jokerit of SM-liiga in Finland. Teravainen will wear number 86 for the Blackhawks.
Teravainen, the team’s first-round selection (18th overall) in the 2012 National Hockey League Entry Draft, led Jokerit with 44 points (9g, 35a) in 49 games this season. He ranked seventh in SM-liiga in points and was second in assists, while leading his club in assists and ranked seventh in goals. Teravainen tallied a season-best three points on four occasions (Oct. 18, Jan. 10, Jan. 17 and Jan. 25).
The Helsinki, Finland, native also represented his native country in the 2014 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championships, leading all tournament scorers with 15 points (2g, 13a) in seven games, while helping Finland to a gold medal. Teravainen also led the tournament with 13 assists and a plus-11 rating, and was named to the World Junior Championship All-Star Team.
Teravainen, 19, has recorded 93 points (33g, 60a) in 133 career games with Jokerit from 2011 to 2014. He was named the SM-liiga Rookie of the Year following the 2011-12 campaign, posting 18 points (11g, 7a) in 40 games that season. He has represented Finland in two Under-20 World Junior Championships (2013, 2014) and two Under-18 World Junior Championships (2011, 2012).
Additionally, the Blackhawks have placed forward Patrick Kane on long-term injury (LTI). Kane, 25, has 69 points (29g, 40a) in 69 games this season.
