from Chris Hine of the Chicago Tribune,
The Blackhawks have answered one of the biggest questions about their future -- whether it will include prolific winger Artemi Panarin, who was due to be a restricted free agent after this season.
The answer appears to be yes.
The Hawks and Panarin have agreed to a contract extension, a source told the Tribune on Wednesday. Details of the contract were not immediately known but Panarin was seeking a deal of around $6 million per season in September, a source told the Tribune.
The deal was first reported by The Athletic.
The challenge now for the Hawks is how they will fit under the salary cap next season and who might have to be traded to accomodate Panarin's new deal.
