Change Needed For The Vegas Golden Knights

from Ed Graney of the Las Vegas Review-Journal,

It happened again. The script never changed.

Third time’s a charm?

Not if the Golden Knights don’t make offseason changes.

They assumed position for the sort of handshake line they were neither expected nor favored to experience as the Knights on Thursday evening were eliminated from a Stanley Cup semifinal in a 3-2 overtime loss to Montreal at Bell Centre.

The Canadiens won the best-of-seven series 4-2 and advance to the Stanley Cup Final, a direct result of executing their structure far better than the Knights countered with theirs.

Sound familiar?

Can’t stand pat.

The Knights were sent home from Canada in a semifinal series for the second straight season, falling to Dallas in 2020 in the Edmonton bubble when they also couldn’t score enough to advance.

“There is another door we need to find to barge through at this time of year,” said Knights coach Pete DeBoer. “Everybody has to look in the mirror, coaches included. I think everything is on the table. We have to look at what we can do different from a coaching perceptive. We have to look at our personnel. I think everything is on the table.”

What a pile of crap. He writes as if the Stanley Cup is part of their birthright. The Habs deserved everything they have worked so hard to obtain so far. Go Habs.

Such a joy watching them choke it all away. Awful city, awful fans.

No, they don’t need wholesale changes.  They need to get their fourth line overhauled.  They were playing probably an average of 8-10 minutes a night and those times were just to spell relief for the other three lines, nothing more.  They could check and check and check, but they have ZERO offensive ability in any form.  MTL beat them because their bench was better.

I like Reaves and Kolesar and Carrier, but they need evolution.

I thought the lack of Reaves contributed to their collapse.
