Carolina Hurricanes forward Chad LaRose more or less disappeared after the Carolina Hurricanes' season ended, but (via Pro Hockey Talk's Jason Brough) LaRose explained his decision to skip his exit interview whe the Raleigh News & Observer's Luke DeCock managed to reach him on Monday:
I spoke with Chad LaRose on Wednesday from his parents' home in Fraser, Mich., where he's spending some time right now. As I wrote Sunday, LaRose had been incommunicado since his contract with the Hurricanes expired, but we spoke for about 10 minutes about his past with the team, his departure and his future.
LaRose's agent, Mark Guy, said Tuesday that he has had discussions with multiple NHL teams over the summer. "Nothing that has resulted in a contract yet," Guy wrote in an email, "but that is his and our goal." Regardless, LaRose said he plans to continue living in the Triangle, where he owns a custom-home business along with his brother-in-law.
