This morning a small group from both sides met to talk about the pension issue.

The full CBA meeting we are waiting for has yet to be scheduled.

ok. I know this is a very complicated issue and it takes two to tango…but sitting at work watching the average player make 2million (if I remember correctly) discussing pension plans makes me and my colleagues a bit sick…ever heard about a planned budget guys?

As I said, both parties need to put some water in their wine, but I guess all this talk about millionaires and billionaires wanting more and more and more…makes me vomit….especially since at the end of the day, all this money will come in big part from our pockets….

Sorry for the rant….I wanted to get this out so I can concentrate on work LOL

Eh. I see where you’re coming from, but personally, I think this is the second worthwhile thing Don Fehr has played hardball on (only other thing was revenue sharing) because

a) it’s a plausible “get”
b) and a necessary safety net for the irresponsible or the marginal guys who don’t collect an NHL salary for long

If labor negotiations in the 20th century have taught us anything, it’s that stakeholders are more willing to accept pension obligations 20 years down the road than, say, monumental increases in imminent risk.

This is something, were I an NHLPA member, I would want to know the status on during each and every conference call
