CBA Meeting Continues Today

Numerous reports state the NHL and NHLPA will once again meet at an undisclosed location in NYC.

Meeting should start sometime early afternoon and all we can do is wait for news to trickle out from the meeting.

Depending on who youi follow for your CBA news, you've probably heard everything from progress being made to things are not going very well.

I’ve immersed myself in minor league hockey instead lately and noticed something the last two days.

I’ve noticed 2 different sources from 2 different games (on two different coasts) noting AHL GM’s actively scouting ECHL games, which is fairly unusual to be honest.  This, combined with the sudden urge for some of the NHLers it seems to sign on to play anywhere, has led to speculation that both sides know the lockout is about to end.

The AHL GM’s are preparing to lose say 3-6 players per team to their NHL clubs and are scouting who to call up.  The NHLers are signing in a wave to unlikely places to get conditioned.  That’s the theory anyways.

Again, speculation… but the AHL GM’s thing in particular strikes me as curious and not something you’d expect to see if there’s no light at the end of the tunnel.  Take it with a grain of salt.  However, you don’t scout hard now for moves later when the minors are so fluid anymore… you scout for now.
