Carolina Hurricanes Host Pittsburgh Penguins In Most Expensive 2015-16 Regular Season Home Game

10/04/2015 at 10:06am EDT

By Joe Sudberg,

There hasn’t been much to smile about since the Carolina Hurricanes’ Stanley Cup win during the 2005-06 season. The franchise has made only one playoff appearance since that campaign (2008-09), and are running on a streak six straight seasons of missing the postseason.

To go along with the streak of postseason absences, the Hurricanes took a step in the wrong direction last season, going from 36 wins in 2013-14 to 30 wins. Head coach Bill Peters is about to begin the second year of his tenure, a year the franchise is looking for a positive stepping-stone for future seasons.

Along with cornerstone Eric Staal and Justin Faulk, the Hurricanes brought in Kris Versteeg with some championship experience, as well as James Wisniewski, and drafted Noah Hanifin fifth overall in this past year’s NHL Draft as someone who will have an impact on the team sooner rather than later. When the goalie competition between Cam Ward and Eddie Lack is settled, Carolina will have a better overall feel for what they’re rolling with as the season opener approaches.

With their season debut against the Nashville Predators looming on October 8, below is a secondary market look at Carolina Hurricanes tickets, with information provided by SeatSmart.com.

2/5/2016 | Winnipeg Jets vs. Carolina Hurricanes | MTS Centre | Average Price: $639.59 | Get-in Price: $202.78

12/27/2015 | Chicago Blackhawks vs. Carolina Hurricanes | United Center | Average Price: $359.71 | Get-in Price: $137

2/25/2016 | Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Arizona Coyotes | Air Canada Centre | Average Price: $336.67 | Get-in Price: $73

2/12/2016 | Carolina Hurricanes vs. Pittsburgh Penguins | PNC Arena | Average Price: $154.06 | Get-in Price: $34

The Hurricanes most expensive tickets on the secondary market come against the Winnipeg Jets at the MTS Centre on February 5, having an average ticket price of $639.59 and a get-in price of $202.78. This is actually the case for most NHL teams this year, as the Jets are a club that draws very active ticket sales.

The second most expensive game during the Hurricanes’ season is against the team that won the Stanley Cup championship a year ago, the Chicago Blackhawks. Entrance into the United Center for this anticipated contest on December 27 has an average ticket price of $359.71 and a get-in price of $137. Furthermore, Hurricanes fans attending this one should know they can save immensely on Chicago parking at ParkWhiz.com, which has spots available around the United Center for a low price.

There are plenty of games that appear before the Hurricanes’ most expensive home game of the campaign, which comes on February 12 at PNC Arena opposite the high-powered Pittsburgh Penguins. Tickets to see the Penguins have an average price of $154.06 and a get-in price of $34 for the most sought after Carolina home tickets of the year.
