from Scott Burnside of ESPN,
In the Caps' locker room, the players were suitably chastened, as you would expect from a team that is now 2-8-1.
Troy Brouwer suggested the team wasn't mentally prepared to play.
"I agree," offered captain Alex Ovechkin.
"Yeah, no emotions. Nothing."
Before Thursday's game, rookie head coach Adam Oates talked with enthusiasm about the direction he felt his team was headed. In spite of the losses, he felt they were not being dominated, that they were a few key saves and some bounces from being a better team, certainly a team with more points.
Keeping the faith will be harder after Thursday's offering.
"Tonight was just not a good enough hockey game," defenseman Karl Alzner said.

Never, ever, would I want #8 on my team.

So give him number 91 instead.

The problem is the fish stinks from the head down, Leonsis is a clown of an owner, George McPhee is even worse as a GM & Adam Oates is clueless
He pulled Neuwirth after the Pens scored the 2nd goal to go up 2-1 & put Holtby in & the Pens lit him up for 3 more in the 2nd Pd. for 5 total & that was after the Pens lit Holtby up for 6 last week
He has OV playing RW for the 1st time ![]()

completely disagree that they were not ready to play
their first period was solid but they could not build on or maintain the pace in the 2nd and just wilted in the 2nd like they did over the weekend
geez, worse than I thought. they are clueless as to what is wrong
but hey, Ovie looked good in the 3rd when it was game over
