Canucks Make Qualifying Offer To Cory Schneider

via Scott Russell of News1130,

The Vancouver Canucks have qualified the contracts of free agent goaltenders Cory Schneider and Eddie Lack, as well as forward Dale Wiese.

Schneider’s agent Mike Liut tells News1130 Sports that he will meet with the Canucks this week in Pittsburgh prior to the NHL Entry Draft on Friday.

If the Canucks or Schneider’s agent can’t get a new deal done, both sides have an opportunity to file for salary arbitration in early July. Schneider, selected by the Canucks in the first round in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, appeared in a career-high 33 games in 2011-12. He recorded 20 victories and had a 1.96 goals-against-average in his stepped-up role as Roberto Luongo’s backup.
