Canucks Still A Quality Team

from Tony Gallagher of the Vancouver Province,

Consider Alex Edler to start. Assuming he’s still here, could he play any worse? There’s only one way to go, and that’s up.

How about Zack Kassian? Could he contribute much less than he did last season? Imagine what playing half or a full season with the Sedin twins might do to his confidence, level of commitment and enjoyment of the sport. Imagine what he could do for the Sedins if he hammers anyone who goes near them with the blessing of a coach who wants a “stiffer” team. Heavens, just off-loading his off-ice wingman Steve Pinizzotto should help.

Imagine if the snarl in the game if Kevin Bieksa was brought out and into play.

Imagine the concept of getting a shot like Jason Garrison’s onto the first power-play unit and/or improving its No. 22 standing of last season?

Imagine if David Booth actually stayed healthy for a period of time and was convinced by the new coach or anyone else who can get through to him to make a commitment to being a better professional rather than a better hunter?

That’s one Hell of a wish list.  VAN is in for a painful reality this year, the likes of which most of their fans have never witnessed.
