Canucks Re-Sign Eddie Lack

Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Canucks President and General Manager Michael D. Gillis announced today that the Canucks have re-signed goaltender Eddie Lack to a two year deal.

Lack, 25, made his NHL debut this season with the Canucks on October 6, 2013, against the Calgary Flames, stopping 32 shots faced and recording his first career victory. In five appearances this season, Lack has posted a 2-2-0 record and .911 save percentage.

Prior to making his NHL debut, the Norrtälje, Sweden, native played three seasons with the Canucks AHL affiliates, the Manitoba Moose and Chicago Wolves. In his first AHL season with the Moose, he compiled a .926 save percentage and was named to the AHL All-Rookie team.

Seems odd to give an unproven back up over $1M per year.

He’s not unproven. This guy could of been starting on several NHL teams years ago but the Canucks foolishly left him in minors instead of trading him when they had a decent chance at winning the SC.
