Canes Shorthanded

from David Shoalts of the Globe and Mail,

The Carolina Hurricanes will likely be missing two of their top six forwards, top scorer Rod Brind’Amour and first-line winger Erik Cole, when they play the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday night.
Also among the missing will be forward Andrew Ladd, who was stricken by appendicitis on Thursday night and had an emergency appendectomy. Head coach Peter Laviollette said after the Hurricanes’ game-day skate on Friday morning that Ladd will be out for two to four weeks.
