Canes Need More Corporate Involvement

lthough corporate sales and partnerships have jumped about 60 percent this season, team president and general manager Jim Rutherford said, the Hurricanes are 30 percent shy of the team’s high-water mark after its run to the 2002 Stanley Cup finals.
“We’re still not back to where we were at one point,” Rutherford said Tuesday, declining to discuss specific figures. “And it’s important that we do that as we move forward in order to share in [league] revenue sharing. ... It’s very encouraging, the jump we’ve taken related to the worth of hockey coming off winning the Stanley Cup, but we still have to improve on that.”
