via TSN,
Michal Handzus’s power play goal with less than three minutes left in the third period gave Slovakia a 4-3 win over Canada in their quarterfinal at the World Hockey Championship.
More to follow.

This really wasn’t a good team Canada sent to the Worlds though, not by their standards even for the Worlds.
Who’s World team is? Have you seen Team USA’s line-up?

Saw the Game tieing goal and what a bad pass up the slot by Kane. The Canadians looked gassed and sloppy coming back.

Well, does that mean that Babcock now has a chance to coach the Olympics? If Canada would have won this championship/or a medal…you might want to keep a winning formula (at least at the coaching level)
But then again, it is the players that are on the ice…. What do you think?

The disparity between USA’s Olympic team and Worlds team isn’t even close to the disparity between Canada’s Olympic and Worlds teams. And I say that as an American.
This Team Canada’s leadership vacuum was evident. Too many youngsters and hotheads.

I saw part of the 3rd and Canada looked plain flat at that point. Slovakia was outhustling them in every aspect and I can’t imagine the first 2 periods were that different.
Getzlaf’s 5 and a Game was the final nail in the coffin. When he took that they were already down a man and the Slovaks had tied it back at 3-3. Canada was already losing any momentum by then. Slovakia scoring on the 5-on-3 felt inevitable.
