from Meghan Potkins of the Calgary Herald,
Calgary city council has voted to ratify an agreement that will see the construction of a new $550-million arena that will be home to the Calgary Flames for the next 35 years, just eight days after details of the proposal were made public.
Council voted 11-4 in favour of the deal. Only councillors Evan Woolley, Druh Farrell, Jeromy Farkas and George Chahal were opposed.
