“My forte is my ass and legs,” said Gomez, a 5-foot-11, 200-pounder. “That’s what pays the bills. “I’m definitely in the best shape I’ve ever been in. I can’t sit in a gym for two hours a day lifting weights. I just gain muscle and put on weight, and I don’t want any more weight. I’m more concerned about keeping my legs strong and fresh.” So, it has come to this: Happy-go-lucky Gomez, who never played a shift in the minor leagues before he broke into the NHL at 19, is beginning to sound like a cagey veteran. Not that Gomez has begun taking himself too seriously.more
