Bure Being Compared To Gretzky

A serious knee injury forced the perennial National Hockey League (NHL) All-Star to retire last year, ending his dream of winning Olympic gold as a player, but he now hopes to lead Russia to victory at next month's Winter Games in Turin as general manager. "When I was growing up, playing in the Olympics was the ultimate goal," Bure told Reuters in an interview. For us the Olympics were the biggest thing in sports and certainly in hockey. Nobody knew the Stanley Cup even existed. We were all following the Soviet national team and dreaming of becoming the next Boris Mikhailov or Valery Kharlamov," he said.
