from Kevin Oklobzija of the News and Democrat,
For the three dozen prospects of the Buffalo Sabres — from rookie first-round draft picks Mikhail Grigorenko, Zemgus Girgensons and Mark Pysyk to the returning members of the Rochester Americans — development camp started out as a day at the beach.
The players may not like the beach anymore.
Summer hockey camp has become boot camp, at least at sunrise.
The Sabres enlisted the U.S. Navy SEALs to put their players through perhaps the most strenuous fitness workout of their lives.
“Those guys are probably the toughest in the business,” third-year right winger Corey Tropp said.
Pushups, situps, crunches, squats. They endured a 5 a.m. exercise regimen that seemingly came directly from the SEALs’ training base.
“We did it like so many times, like a thousand times,” Grigorenko said. “Then we had to swim in the lake (Erie).”

Wow. Definitely, infinitely tougher workout than the Stars and MMA.
Nice job, Sabres.
