Bryzgalov No Longer A Quote Machine

from Randy Miller of the Courier Post,

Once again, Bryzgalov absolutely refused to talk about himself in his latest short post-game interview that lacked the entertainment of his old ones, and he wouldn’t even skate back onto the ice to salute fans after being named the game’s No. 1 star for stopping all 17 Devils shots.

Told he’d just joined John Vanbiesbrouck to become the second Flyers goalie with three consecutive shutouts, Bryzgalov showed no emotion.

“Thanks for telling me,” he said softly.

Later, Bryzgalov added his new favorite line, “I don’t want to talk about me,” when someone asked about his goalless streak, which is up to 196 minutes, 13 seconds.

And on Flyers fans chanting his name, he responded, “Yeah, I heard. Thank you for the support.”

It’s funny. All the Philly writers mocked Bryz for being a quote machine without quality goaltending. Now that he’s doing the opposite it seems every writer is writing this kind of article and seem somewhat upset that Bryz isn’t showing emotion or providing them good quotes. Sometime the local media here is just so annoying.

Now we know why hockey players make such boring interviewees…
