I watched this game and both teams played like unrestrained wild horses. They looked like they were trying to kill each other, season penalties were completely let go an the refs threw their whistles away. I keep saying, go ahead kill each other , should be a slew of injuries in this series. Old time50’s hockey. Montreal was making a statement about the hamburglar and Ottawa was playing hard in memory of a coach.

I watched the game too and while the tensions were boiling, it all felt like standard playoff hockey except for this play. Do you know how hard you have to hit someone with a stick to break their arm? How this isn’t worthy of supplemental discipline is beyond me. I mean, to Dave Cameron’s point (albeit one he made somewhat threateningly), a five min major is a pretty small price to pay for breaking the arm of a star scorer on the other team. I mean, if this is the precedent being set in game one, it seems like open season this year. Apparently only checks to the head or boarding calls are worthy of suspension, so slashes, crosschecks, knees, and slew foots are all enough “part of the game” that guys really can just try and injure people. I’d sure be beyond pissed if this was Tatar or Nyquist out with a broken arm because of a chump goon play like this. And Subban’s temper tantrum after makes further punishment even MORE deserved IMO. The fact he didn’t instantly know a line was crossed and see if Stone was ok speaks volume of his character. He’s a damn good player and fun to watch, but he’s a total chump.

Agreed perfection. The tantrum was the worst for me. A grown man can’t look more like a baby except when he’s jumping up and down and flailing his arms on ice skates.
