Bruins Extend Shawn Thornton

The Boston Bruins and forward Shawn Thornton have agreed to a two-year contract extension worth $1.1 million a year.
Thornton was scheduled to become a free agent on July 1.
The 34-year-old Oshawa, Ontario, native has four goals and eight assists this season and leads the Bruins with 145 penalty minutes. He has led the team in that category in each of the last two seasons.

Thornton is a really effective player for them. He’s a decent player not the typical goon that you can’t put on the ice for more than 4 mins. But Geeze. 1.1 million cap hit for a fourth liner is a lot. With the uncertainty of the cap with new cba…idk a lot of money
